Growing up without a parent figure was a normality for Churchill. His parents spent a vast a amount of his life in social circles and less time with him, so he was in boarding schools and his nanny was his most confidant companion. As grew older he became warry himself about his own children being sent to boarding school, but later conceded at the idea. As a young individua he endured negative thoughts from his father, who believe that Churchill would never achieve anything in his life. Before actually enrolling into the military he failed the entry exam 3 times, he persevered and believed in his abilities. While in the military he was willing to absorb as much information as he could grapple upon. The many valuable lessons he learned would shape him into the Prime minister he was destined to be. In order to get where he wanted to be Churchill needed to work hard and constantly push himself, he consistently, spoke for the poor and with his great abilities to present his ideas he was able to pass through parliament healthcare and unemployment for all lower-class citizens. He was addiment about free trade and often spoke against socialism. But his Legacy continues to live on with the Art, speeches, and books that he has left behind. Before his death Queen Elizabeth II knighted him giving him a high honor that continues to inspire many. While reading this biography, I became envious of the English people for having such a tenacious leader to guide them through incredibly difficult times (as opposed to our current predicament). Churchill is a decisive figure, and not all of his decisions were the “correct” choices, but he did what he though was best for the people, his country, and the world. Readers gain great insight as to what kind of person Churchill was growing up, what motivated him, and what made him such a steadfast leader. This is a great read, especially as we are living through our own catastrophic world events.
